We invite schools across Australia to participate in Be the Difference to empower girls to examine and evaluate the impact of the challenges they face and deliver their perspective of what it means to Be the Difference in the face of the challenges.

Each participating school will have access to a digital pack with presentations and tutorials from industry experts addressing particular issues and professional skills tutorials on presentation and storytelling. Our aim is to inspire and give Australian young women an opportunity to voice their response to the challenges they face.  Challenges including too few women in STEM roles, underrepresentation of women in leadership, imposter syndrome, social media feed, financial security and diversity and inclusion.

Each school will submit one selected 4-5 minute recorded TED Talk style student presentation with their perspective of what it means to Be the Difference in the face of challenges by no later than December 15th 2020.  All school entries will be judged on Passion, Perspective, Rationale and Presentation and each school will receive feedback and if highly commended an award and recognition.

On International Women’s Day, 8th March 2021, the recorded presentations will be shared and their perspectives heard across Australia on dedicated Be the Difference media, alongside stories from inspiring women being the difference.

The school entry fee is $500 +GST and there are a limited number of funded entries from sponsors on application.

The project starts on 15th October 2015, when the first resources will be released to lead teachers.  Schools may continue to join throughout the term up until November 10th 2020.
