This 6 month program enables and empowers our female leaders of tomorrow by equipping them NOW with the skills, experiences and conversations they need to succeed in a complex, uncertain and ambiguous world. A world where they CAN and WANT to be the difference. Be the game changers. Be the dreamers AND the doers. Putting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at the heart and centre of the program is one of its key points of difference. Each participant selects a UN Sustainable Development Goal that they are the most passionate about and create and build a social impact project tackling that goal. With the support of their mentor’s guidance and armed with the invaluable skills they learn throughout the program they bring their social impact project to life. Our pilot year in 2021 saw social projects tackle significant global issues including; climate change, youth homelessness, mental health issues stemming from negative body image, equality around education opportunities and more.
Simple. Because we can, we should and we so desperately want our world to experience all that our future female leaders have to offer it. The more barriers we can move out of their ways now, the easier the path for them to pave and to succeed. We are looking for Female Year 11 (year 10 by exception) High School students with the drive and ambition to lead and make a difference. The program brings together forward thinking, progressive and visionary Businesses, Schools and Organisations all across Australia who are ready to stop talking, and start acting. More information on which support opportunity is right for you is below. The program structure takes a purposefully blended approach to learning ensuring the participants remain engaged and motivated. This incorporates; face to face workshops, online live webinars, self-paced learning tutorials, 1:1 mentor sessions with a woman from Industry, monthly online group power coaching circles, special guests and ‘pitch night’ events with experts from industry. In addition to this, the participants apply their learnings through the development of a personal social impact project that they present at the graduation celebration at the conclusion of the program. These incorporate: Additionally, the short, self-paced online tutorials or power circle special guests presented by Industry experts also cover some of the key business and life skills required for success: I have loved hearing about the issues that matter most to young people today and getting an understanding of how our youth view the world. I’ve also really enjoyed seeing the fast development and shaping of ideas happening in real time. The genuine intent of these young ladies to make a difference in a world that is full of challenges, has been refreshing and inspiring to see. Being a part of the Future Female Leaders’ program has truly opened my eyes to what opportunities I have available to me and the control I have over creating a life and a job I want for the future. It has provided me with skills and knowledge that I will be able to apply to my everyday life and whatever field of work I choose to move into. These skills will provide me with the opportunity to continuously grow as a person and as an entrepreneur as I am faced with new and different situations. I love that it is a program for females and is extremely practical, with a focus on real-world problems and solutions designed to set these young women up for the future. The content has been fun and engaging, and everyone has such a positive attitude. Being a part of this program has inspired me in so many ways, from meeting other young women and learning to network, to planning my social project. I have found ways to use my strengths in a meaningful way, and developed skills I didn’t even know I had. The content in the tutorials and the social enterprise aspect have taught me how to step out of my comfort zone and lead with direction, with accountability and clear communication. It’s the program I wish was around when I was in school! The ability for the girls to apply what they are learning in their workshops to a practical project that they feel passionate about is really powerful. The learnings from every venture we undertake in our careers become arrows in the quiver for the next venture, so this program is such a great way to get the girls started on their entrepreneurial journey early so they are well prepared for their exciting careers ahead. The Future Female Leaders Program has allowed me to experience new things, and helped me gain self confidence and leadership skills for the future. They’ve taught me how to make a successful organisation and team, and allowed me to meet amazing people who helped me with my project, as well as taught me the skills I need for the future. Being a part of this program has meant learning how to lead others and learning how to be the leader of my own future and life, instead of following other people. It has allowed me to accomplish the things I have wanted to for years and allowed me to get out a message that is incredibly important to me by giving me the skills and the opportunities to do so. For my future, it has given me the opportunity to see what I am capable of doing and becoming outside of just academics. It has given me skills that will not only help me in this part of my life, but continue to help me become a strong leader and team member in all aspects of my life and working future. The Future Female Leaders Program brings together education and industry to change the game for our future female visionaries and change makers.
THE WHY
We want our future female leaders to learn the key leadership and life skills that they need to thrive NOW, not letting them hit the workplace at 18 years old unprepared for the challenges that they will be presented with. We see the critical importance of the school curriculum, yet place equal importance on the immeasurable life skills that our future generation also need to learn. We remember learning it the hard way ourselves. Looking back at our 16-year-old selves and thinking of the advice we wished we’d been given – if only we knew it then.
